Group decries alleged smear campaign against PENCOM ex-DG, NASS
The Media Rights Agenda (MRA) has decried an alleged plot by some disgruntled elements to discredit the former Director General of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu and the National Assembly over her appointment, noting that those behind the clandestine move were creating the impression that she may have been cleared by the federal lawmakers in the absence of any known legislation.
In a statement by its national coordinator, Comrade Ishola Ishaka, the group maintained that the three years she held office were replete with records of achievements and her legislative clearance was done in compliance with the provisions of the Act setting up the commission.
MRA noted that during her era, PENCOM’s asset base rose from N2.5 trillion to N6.5 trillion. It, therefore, advised Nigerians to discountenance any untoward claims, insisting that Anohu-Amazu had zero tolerance for corruption and never compromised when she held sway.
