Group faults Soludo over comments on Obi

Urges gov to first fulfill election promises in Anambra
The South East Revival Group (SERG) has criticised the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, over comments on the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urging him to first fulfill his campaign promises to Anambra people.

The pan-Igbo socio-political pressure group said Soludo has proven that he has lost understanding of his priorities, insisting he must first build Anambra to Dubai status, which he promised during his election campaigns.

SERG was reacting to comments credited to Soludo, who attacked Obi, saying that the Labour Party presidential candidate cannot win in 2023 presidential election.

In a statement issued by its President and National Coordinator, Chief Willy Ezugwu, SERG explained: “This is not the first time predictions on Obi’s victory at elections came and failed.

“In the build up to the 2010 governorship election in Anambra, the popular prediction was that Soludo, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would defeat Obi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“In fact, most prominent Anambra people predicted that Obi wouldn’t win a second tenure even before the governorship primary.

“But on February 7, 2010, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Obi the winner of the 2010 Anambra governorship election, where he defeated Soludo.  So, he knows his predictions against Obi have never come to pass, not even his own election victory prediction in 2010.

“SERG, therefore, enjoins Soludo to face his job of governing Anambra, ensuring that his campaign promises to the people are fulfilled.

“So far, Soludo has not been able to solve a single major problem of the state since he took office. In fact, his administration has turned Anambra into one of the unsafe states in Nigeria going by recent security realities.

“Nigerian people, the poor, oppressed and those facing security threats in Anambra, as well as across the country, have, in the past few months, shown Nigerians that they are the structures any politician needs to win in the 2023 general elections.  For us, the sudden outburst of Soludo against Obi can only be explained as outright jealousy having seen the rising profile of the Labour Party presidential candidate.”
