Group slams Lalong, other governors for ‘insensitivity’ to Kaduna attacks

Global Centre For Media and Human Empowerment (GCMHE) has condemned the attitude of the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) led by Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State to the genocide in Southern Kaduna and bandits’ attacks in other parts of the North.

Reviewing the security situation in the country, the non-governmental organisation (NGO) considered the Northern governors as a betrayal to their people.

Addressing a world press conference yesterday, the Acting Director-General, Charles Ejoh, called on Lalong to resign as chairman for his poor leadership of the forum, adding that even his state, Plateau, suffered poor governance.

Ejoh described the insecurity in Nigeria, fuelled by killer herdsmen and other bandits, as worrisome. His words: “We all know that most of these killer herdsmen are not Nigerians but mercenaries. It is in this light that we are urging President Muhammadu Buhari, a former General, to declare this marauding herdsmen and bandits as terrorists.

“The GCMHE believes that such categorisation will reduce, if not end, the incessant terror attack on farming communities, especially in the North.”

He urged Buhari to direct the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to file an application before the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, to ban killer herdsmen, bandits and their activities and to declare them as terrorists quickly as he did the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“I want to state here emphatically that what we are experiencing in Kaduna is a genocide; the systematic wiping out of a people. We must give recourse to history on how Germany, in the hands of Adolf Hitler, systematically wiped out over six million Jews during the Holocaust. This is how the Holocaust started.

“We may wake up one day to discover that the entire Southern Kaduna has been wiped out using government machinery.” The group also asked Buhari to sack all the service chiefs as “they have overstayed their welcome and usefulness.”
