Group tasks Oborevwori on credible IPMAN election

Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori
A group of independent petroleum marketers in Delta State, Noble Marketers Forum, has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prevail on the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the state to conduct its elections in accordance with constitutional provisions.
The group, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Monday Oseke, said that this has become important, as the tenure of the outgoing executives expired in June 2023. Oseke hinted it was reported that the governor put the election on hold because of an individual who wants to be sworn in without election.
They alleged that the particular aspirant is pressurising the governor through some of his cronies to execute this plan; hence, the repeated postponement of the election.
Oseke said: “We dismiss this rumour flying around the state as propagated by close allies of the particular contestant for the position of the chairman of the association.
“The Noble Marketers Forum notes that the governor is a product of free and fair election, and that they doubt if he will support imposition in a modern-day Nigeria.”
“We prevail on the governor to allow the electoral committee, which consists of men of impeccable character to conduct the election immediately, as the constitution of the association is clear about election.”
