Group urges Gombe government to release health sector funds
The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Initiative (MNCHI) in Gombe State has urged the state government to release funds approved for the health sector.
Chairman of the group, Alhassan Yahya, made the call at a media briefing in Gombe yesterday.
He said if the state government releases the N250 million approved for the purchase of six dialysis machines for the state Specialist Hospital, it would go a long way in saving lives, as about 160 persons go for dialysis in Bauchi State on a monthly basis.
He appealed to the state government to release the N250 million approved as counterpart funding to UNICEF for the purchase of Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) under the CMAN programme.
Yahya also demanded the release of N25 million to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency for the purchase of life saving drugs and other essential medications.
