Group urges journalists to always cross-check facts
A group known as Taraba Volunteer Group (TVG) has called on journalists in Taraba State and the country at large to always cross-check their facts before going to the press.
The group, while reacting to reports (not The Guardian) that accused the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Anthony Jellason, of relegating his Zing Local Government Council people to the background, stressed the need for media practitioners to always reach out to the concern parties while carrying out their lawful responsibilities.
In a statement signed by its Secretary General, Charles Nyanganji, the group noted with dismay that “the allegations leveled against the SSG were false, baseless, mischievous and capable of igniting crisis in the council and in the state as a whole.”
Citing the numerous projects that the SSG has influenced to the council, which it described as the first of it kind, despite the council having produced the governor for 10 years, with no significant development to show for it.
The group also frowned at the allegation that Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku doled out money to prevent the youths of the area from protesting against the SSG, which it said was sponsored to tarnish image of Jellason.
