Group wants Bindow to sack Nyako over Yola poly crisis
The Adamawa State Transparency Group has asked the State Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, to redeploy the registrar of Adamawa State Polytechnic Hajia Mariam Adamu Nyako, younger sister to former governor of the state Murtala Nyako, over crisis in the institution.
The spokesman of the group Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Gombi, told journalists yesterday in Yola that the continued stay of Nyako in the polytechnic after she was promoted to permanent secretary has posed serious danger to the school.
The Department of State Security (DSS) recently quizzed Nyako after a bloody riot in the school a day after the new Rector Prof. Ibrahim Umar, who is now at war with Nyako resumed duty.
The Guardian gathered that Nyako wrote undertaking at DSS office, promising that peace will reign in the school.
Nyako’s promotion to permanent secretary level was a designed to take her out of the school, but after taking oath of her new office, she refused to resume in her new ministry.
Gombi said that unless urgent steps are taken by the Adamawa State Government to resolve the faceoff between the duo, the institution might be forced to be close down as all ancillary services have virtually stopped due to the activities of Nyako and her loyalists.
