Unknown gunmen have abducted three worshippers of Cherubim and Seraphim church located at Obada area of Abeokuta Ogun State on Sunday morning.

According to reports, the church was holding its vigil, when gunmen stormed the church premises along with the railway station and abducted the members.

The victims identified by eyewitnesses are Ifeoluwa Alani-Bello, Adebare Oduntan and Mary Oliyide.

The abductors have demanded N6 million ransom for their release.

Confirming the abduction, Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, told The Guardian that the police are on the abductors’ trail to secure the release of the two men and a woman that were kidnapped.

He, however, warned churches to secure police consent before holding vigils in isolated areas and to be security conscious.

He said: “We hope to get them very soon. But we have been telling our people that this is not the time to be having church service in an isolated area. We have issued a statement to that effect. We should all try to be security conscious.

“If there is any need to have vigils in isolated areas, the police should be informed so that we can have a constant patrol around the area.”
