Gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday invaded the Adamawa Police Headquarters located in Jimeta in the Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed this in a statement where he said the armed men sent the residents of Yola into panic.

“The attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it was unknown,” Nguroje said.

However, according to another source, the assailants were military personnel who came on a revenge mission.

The source added that this came about following the alleged killing of a military officer by the police.

Nguroje said in his statement that Police investigations were ongoing to ascertain the reason for the attack and those behind it.
