Gunmen kill 3 in Ebonyi Community – Police

Unidentified gunmen have attacked and killed three persons at Akpoha Community in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi.

The Spokesman for the Police Command in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the assailants attacked the community on Saturday night.

Ukandu described the act as wicked, saying that the command had launched manhunt for the killers.

According to him, the command is aware of the incident and we have launched manhunt for the suspects. It’s so unfortunate.

Reacting to the incident, the Coordinator of Amoha Development Centre, Mr Kenneth Obasi, said the assailants arrived at the community in two motorcycles and began to shoot sporadically.

“The assailants opened fire, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives.

“The deceased included Egwu Nicholas Nwocha, Emmanuel Nwocha and Blessing Orie Inya.

“We got information also that the deceased were engaged in night activities when the attack occurred,” Obasi said.

He said that their bodies had been deposited in the mortuary.

“We and the police are investigating the attack to ascertain the root cause of the matter,” he said.
