MAAUN founder Prof. Adamu Gwarzo has donated a Toyota Hilux to Northwest University, Kano.

Founder of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated an official Toyota Hilux vehicle to Northwest University (NWU), Kano, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and supporting higher education development.

The vehicle was presented to the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero, by a delegation from MAAUN during a ceremony held at the university in Kano.

The delegation was led by MAAUN President, Prof. Mohammad Israr, and included the university’s Vice President (Administration), Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Senate Member, Dr. Nura Yaro; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah of the Corporate Communications Unit.

The donation fulfilled a pledge made by Prof. Gwarzo during a recent courtesy visit by the Northwest University management to him in Abuja, where he promised to provide an official vehicle for the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the founder, Prof. Israr said the gesture reflected Prof. Gwarzo’s long-standing commitment to promoting quality education through institutional partnerships and strategic support.

He said the donation would strengthen the existing relationship between MAAUN and Northwest University while enhancing the operational efficiency of the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Receiving the vehicle, Prof. Bayero thanked Prof. Gwarzo for fulfilling his promise, describing the donation as another demonstration of his commitment to advancing higher education in Nigeria.

She recalled that the MAAUN founder had previously donated a luxury bus to the university and supported several initiatives aimed at improving its academic and administrative capacity.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gwarzo has also pledged to assist the institution in securing international grants and other opportunities to enhance research, teaching and institutional development.

The Registrar of Northwest University described the visit as an opportunity to deepen collaboration between the two institutions, revealing that discussions had begun on the possible establishment of a joint academic and research centre.

He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon Prof. Gwarzo and the MAAUN community for their sustained contributions to educational development.

The university’s Bursar also welcomed the donation, noting that the vehicle would improve the efficiency of the Vice Chancellor’s office and support the institution’s day-to-day administrative activities.

The donation adds to a growing list of educational interventions by Prof. Gwarzo, whose contributions to university development have focused on expanding access to quality education, promoting institutional partnerships and strengthening research capacity across Nigeria’s higher education sector.
