Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko has described the late Pa Olanihun Ajayi as a patriot to the core, “whose unparalleled patriotism were obvious in all his actions and utterances at all times through to his last days.”

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CSP), Eni Akinsola, Mimiko said he and the entire people of the state join millions of Nigerians home and abroad, “to mourn the loss of a patriotic Nigerian, Pan-Yoruba leader and an enduring conscience of our nation.”

Mimiko said Ajayi was passionate about the Nigerian enterprise and even more passionate about the place of the Yoruba nation in it, while he made a success of his numerous private business endeavours at all times.

The governor stated that he found it right in the face of the huge loss to “join other Nigerians in celebrating this great man, for in truth, occasions like this call for celebration of the remarkable, indelible and unforgettable deeds of the departed, who lived and died well.”

He commiserated with the immediate family, the larger Afenifere family, the Yoruba nation and Nigerians at large, adding: “For in this death, we have lost a part of our present to our history.”
