Heavy security presence at Lagos assembly ahead of plenary
The premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly are currently under heavy security presence amid the controversy surrounding the speakership position.
Journalists who tried to enter the premises were prevented by armed police officers who mounted several vans at strategic points leading to the assembly complex.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency 1, Mojisola Meranda, will tender her resignation as Speaker of the House today.
She was sworn in on January 13, 2025, after 30 lawmakers removed the lawmaker representing Agege Constituency 1, Mudashiru Obasa, as speaker.
However, the removal was challenged by Obasa who described it as illegal while affirming that he’s still the speaker of the assembly.
