Two Chinese expatriates working in Ebonyi State, Shen Gusmeh and Mao Xinmin have been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be herdsers at Ishiagu, Ivo local government area of the state.

They are said to be working for a mining company in the area. The town has the largest deposit of solid minerals in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Awosola Awotinde, confirmed the incident to newsmen yesterday. He expressed hope of possible rescue of the two Chinese workers as soon as possible, adding that the command is on the trail of the kidnappers.

According to a source, three Chinese were initially taken but one of them was later released by the abductors, noting that they are said to be working on a project for Green Field, a mining company in the area.
