Hoodlums in Ihiala Local Council of Anambra State have kidnapped a former member of the State House of Assembly, Benson Nwawulu.

Hoodlums in Ihiala Local Council of Anambra State have kidnapped a former member of the State House of Assembly, Benson Nwawulu.

It was gathered that Nwawulu, a two-term lawmaker, was abducted in his house in Ihiala on Sunday.

Though details of his abduction were not made public, a source said the former lawmaker’s son has reached out to some current members of the state assembly, who were Nwawulu’s colleagues, for assistance.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said Nwawulu lost his seat in Anambra assembly in 2019, and had also failed in his bid for a seat in the House of Representatives.

The state police command has, however, confirmed the incident, saying that efforts are at advanced stage to secure his release.

The state Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “Yes, he was kidnapped on Sunday, and we are working to rescue him.
