Outreach Women and Children Hospital Group and Crown Specialist Hospitals and Medico-Experts India have successfully treated fibroids and piles through laparoscopic and laser surgeries in a surgical outreach.

Speaking at the event held in Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos,

CEO of the Outreach Hospitals, Dr. Efunbo Dosekun, explained that the successful completion of the surgical outreach programme was aimed at treating patients suffering from fibroids and piles, utilising advanced laparoscopic surgery techniques alongside state-of-the-art laser surgery, adding that the outreach programme has provided effective relief for patients.

She said: “Over the course of five days, a team of highly skilled surgeons and medical professionals from Medicover Hospitals, India conducted a comprehensive surgical outreach campaign focused on addressing the prevalent health issues of fibroids and piles in our community.”

He said patients that came from within and outside the country were all very satisfied.

He said: “The outreach aimed not only at alleviating symptoms but also raising awareness about the available treatment options. Six patients were relieved of their piles through laser surgery, and three patients had fibroids operated on using laparoscopic surgery.”

He explained that laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive procedure, was the primary method used to successfully treat fibroids and piles in the majority of patients. This technique involves making small incisions through which a laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera, and surgical instruments, are inserted. The laparoscope provides surgeons with a clear view of the surgical site, allowing for precise and targeted treatment.

Dr. Ammetkumar Patil, lead surgeon for the Surgical Outreach, expressed that “We are thrilled with the outcomes achieved during this surgical outreach. Our team worked tirelessly to address the specific needs of each patient, and witnessing their improved health and happiness is truly rewarding.”

Dr. Segun Ebitanmi, Chief Operating Officer, Outreach Hospitals emphasized that Outreach Hospitals is a renowned surgical centre dedicated to providing exceptional medical care and surgical solutions to patients.

Medical Director, Crown Specialist Hospitals, Egbeda, Lagos, Dr. Kayode Akinlade said patients’ well-being and care were the foremost priority.
