House of Representatives member Adewale dies, Dogara mourns
A Member of the House of Representatives, representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency of Lagos State, Elijah Adewale, has died in his Abuja home.It was gathered that Adewale attended the caucus meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday evening before his passing away yesterday. The cause of his death is not yet known.
Adewale, who was born in 1951, was Special Adviser on Education during the first term of Governor Babatunde Fashola administration.Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, has described the sudden demise of Adewale Elijah as shocking.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, Dogara said he was deeply affected by the news of the sudden demise of his colleague whom he described as a hardworking, committed and patriotic lawmaker.
He said: “The late Elijah died when his services to the nation were most needed. We mourn our fallen colleague as one who gave his best in service to God and humanity.
“He was a committed and hardworking member who championed the cause of his people. Our hearts go to his immediate family, people of Ifako/Ijaiye Federal Constituency and Lagos State over this great loss. I pray God Almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will surely miss him in the Green Chamber.”
The deceased lawmaker, representing Ifako/Ijaiye Federal Constituency of Lagos State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed on peacefully in his sleep in Abuja.
