The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Francis Nwifuru, yesterday, said that he would be sworn in as the next governor of the state on May 29, 2023, saying there is nothing like parallel congresses conducted in the state.

Nwifuru, who stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Abakaliki, noted that he is the authentic governorship candidate, telling his supporters to ignore any rumour that there were parallel congresses in the state.

He further stated that Ebonyi was one of the states that had a successful gubernatorial primary election, disclosing that it was only Julius Ucha that petitioned the congress, which, he said, had been treated.

His words: “There was nothing like parallel congresses in Ebonyi APC. There was no petition from the state. Only Ucha submitted petition and it was treated.”

“The congress was monitored by INEC, security agents and panel sent by the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party and I wonder how people will go around saying we have parallel congresses.
