I joined PDP to salvage Kaduna, defeat El-Rufai in 2019, says Hunkuyi
Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Suleiman Hunkuyi, yesterday said his determination to defect from ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was to ensure the current Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, does not return in 2019.
The lawmaker, who stated this when he and other decampees were formally received into PDP family in Kaduna, promised to give the party sizeable votes to send the APC to the background.
He said: “We don’t insult, but we tell the truth. I am telling El-Rufai to use the remaining time he has in office to pack his things and be prepared to leave Government House. We don’t insult, but they will feel pains by the truth we speak. PDP is full and rebranded, and is ready to take over from this government that is already fading out.
“APC is a forgotten issue because its engine and tyres had been removed long ago.
“Let’s join hand with our great party PDP and change things. Without PDP, there would be no end to untold hardship. Nigerians would be suffering. We are praying to God to help us to be united and be successful in reclaiming our state and country.”
In the same vein, former Kaduna State Governor, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, says the PDP is back to rescue the country after listening to the yearnings of Nigerians for its return to power.
“The time has come to liberate our people who have tasted two governments and now understand which one is better,” he said.
Also, Chairman of PDP in the state, Felix Hassan Hyet, while welcoming them back to the party, said they would work together with the decampees to liberate Kaduna State and Nigeria from the shackles of APC, noting that the mistakes APC are making were designed to propel PDP back to power to provide an inclusive leadership for the people.
“Hunkuyi brought El-Rufai to power. I believe he has realised his mistakes and would work hard towards correcting that by helping PDP to send him packing from Sir Kashim Ibrahim House,” he said.
Other top PDP members that graced the occasion included the National Secretary, National Women Leader and senator representing Kaduna South, Danjuma La’ah, among others.
