The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bauchi State, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd) has said the present and previous administrations have ignored the agriculture sector, which he said is responsible for hunger and poverty in the State.

Sadique, who spoke in Misau local government during his grassroots campaign, vowed to urgently revamp the agriculture sector to lift millions of people out of poverty.

“The government has neglected the critical sector, agriculture, which our people take as their main source of livelihood. Today, many of our people cannot afford to eat and poverty is hitting deep. By God’s grace, if you elect us, we will prioritize agriculture which is the mainstay of our economy,” he said.

Sadique who met with the business community in the Council also pledged to empower and provide an enabling environment for their businesses to operate.

The ex-military chief who is eyeing the seat of the incumbent Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took his campaign to the Central Zone of the State to seek the endorsement of traditional leaders and major stakeholders.
