Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has advised public servants to always adhere to integrity and professionalism to achieve sustainable public service delivery.

Mr Jenmi Ganiu, Principal Superintendent of Public Enlightenment and Education at the Ondo State ICPC office, gave the advice during a sensitisation session held in Akure on Monday.

The session was organised for staff members of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Ondo State.

The theme of the sensitisation was ‘Understanding Ethics in the Public Service’.

Ganiu explained that the exercise aimed to foster a corruption-free and accountable public service.

He emphasised the importance of public servants maintaining public trust, ensuring accountability, and promoting transparency in governance.

“As a public servant, we need to align with the broader goals of the government to promote sustainable development through ethical governance and citizen-centred service delivery,” he said.

He also stressed the need for public servants to adhere to integrity and professionalism while discharging their duties.

Mrs Wura Akinridola, NIMC State Coordinator, appreciated the ICPC for the sensitisation.

She said that the session provided them with valuable insights and practical tools for navigating ethical challenges in their daily operations.

Akinridola urged the participants to shun corruption and join hands with the government to fight against corruption, pursuing a more transparent and efficient public service system.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that about 50 members of staff of NIMC attended the event.

They engagad in discussions on ethical dilemmas and strategies for overcoming challenges which could compromise their commitment to public service.
