Igbo in Lagos APC replace Igbokwe with Idimogu for 2023

In a bid to position its group for the 2023 politics, Igbo stakeholders in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have endorsed representative of Oshodi Isolo Constituency II in the House of Assembly, Jude Idimogu, as their new leader.

Idimogu’s selection to replace Joe Igbokwe at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat in Surulere last week was ratified and unveiled over the weekend by all the Eze Ndigbo in Lagos, led by their Chairman, Eze Christian Nwachukwu.

Speaking at the occasion, Nwachukwu noted that lack of genuine mobilisation among the people was glaring in the last election when the Igbo went all out against APC in the state.

Lamenting the constant friction with the traditional and political authorities, Nwachukwu blamed the development on Igbokwe’s style of leadership, which was self-serving and demeaning of others, stressing “The Igbo will not allow an individual to give us a bad name in APC.”

Extolling Idimogu’s leadership qualities, Nwachukwu declared, “We can see in his humility, self-respect and dignity, which irrevocably guarantees that a new leader has emerged. We said it, we believe it and will defend it because we need restructuring in Ndigbo APC in Lagos State.

“We have to mobilise prior to elections to get our people together, prepare and integrate themselves with non-indigenes to assist Ndigbo. Ohaneze does not play politics, but traditional leaders do.

“We have seen bad leadership before, that is why we have endorsed him as our new leader and it remains so, we want him to look for other elected officers and bring them together for the good of all.”

Responding, Idimogu said he was always saddened that the Igbo were not getting their due in the state, even as he assured that the development was a new beginning for the Igbo in Lagos and Ndigbo in APC.
