The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has congratulated the incumbent Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and governor-elect, Francis Nwifuru, on his victory in the recent governorship and state Assembly elections, describing it as reflection of the people’s will for good governance.
A statement by the commission’s Ambassador at Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, Ambassador Duru Hezekiah, stated that the governor-elect has proven his worth, and will, therefore, capitalise on such for quality leadership in the state.
“On the occasion of your election into Ebonyi State’s highest office, IHRC is pleased to extend a warm and heartfelt congratulations to you, as well as our good wishes for success in the discharge of your duties.
“With your manifesto on the people’s charter of needs, you may be rest assured of IHRC’s readiness to work with you towards maintaining and consolidating intergovernmental partnerships and responsiveness to needs of the people.
“I urge you to strengthen the civic alliance between government and the people of the state, as well as your political opponents, in maintaining national solidarity, cooperation, development, security, promotion of peace and stability, as well as contributing to harmonisation and inclusive government.”
