Ikpeazu approves state funeral for late ex- Senate president’s wife

Abia state governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has approved state funeral for late Mrs Felicia Wabara, the wife of Nigeria’s former Senate President, Dr Adolphus Wabara.

Abia state governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has approved state funeral for late Mrs Felicia Wabara, the wife of Nigeria’s former Senate President, Dr Adolphus Wabara.

The governor has accordingly directed his Chief of Staff, Mr Okey Ahiwe, to constitute a committee to plan the funeral in consultation with the Wabara family.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, disclosed this development in a press release yesterday stating that the governor announced the state funeral when he paid a condolence visit to Dr Wabara at his Ohambele country home in Ukwa East LGA at the weekend with some top government Officials.

He stated that Ikpeazu while consoling Senator Wabara over the death of his wife, lamented that she died at this stage of Wabara’s life that he needs his wife with whom he started life and recalled the strong supportive roles she played throughout the different phases of Senator Wabara’s public service life from being a Council Chairman to becoming not just a senator but Senate president and Nigeria’s number three Citizen.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, Senator Wabara commended Ikpeazu for finding the time to come and commiserate with him and his family at their difficult time and his approval of state funeral for her.

“Senator Wabara told the governor that by the death of his wife, he lost not just a wife but the pillar of his life who stood by him through the developmental stages of his life and provided him support and stability in his public service career”.
