Ikpeazu approves two satellite campuses for Abia college
The Provost of the College, Dr Philip Nto, who announced the governor’s directive during a solemn assembly session for the staff and students at the weekend, did not, however, disclose the location of the two approved satellite campuses.
He said in view of the prevailing economic situation in the country that has adversely affected the state government’s capacity to adequately fund educational institutions, the staff should evolve ways that can make the institution financially self-sustaining, by being more creative and proactive.
The provost, who assured the students that management would continue to cater for their welfare, said the establishment of the satellite campuses would be one of the ways the college can generate revenue and thus reduce its funding burden on the state government.
He also said through the satellite campuses and marketing of the college to outsiders, students’ enrollment and revenue would increase and consequently challenged the staff and students to be more resourceful by doing the needful in this regard.
Expressing optimism that the prevailing global economic challenges would be overcome, the guest preacher at the session, Pastor Henry Wisdom, urged the citizenry to keep praying and have faith in God.
