Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced on Tuesday that the under-construction Ilorin Innovation Hub, one of his administration’s flagship projects, is nearing completion.

Speaking to reporters in Ilorin during a site visit, Governor AbdulRazaq explained that the delays were necessary to ensure the project meets world-class specifications.
“Work has reached an advanced stage. I can tell you that once this place is commissioned, it will be one of the best in Africa, in terms of building and content,” he remarked. He was accompanied by Temi Kolawole, Managing Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, as they inspected the progress.
The Governor highlighted that quality content will be the driving force behind the hub’s success. He revealed that the facility has already secured a partnership with IHS, a global technology infrastructure leader, which will ensure the hub’s sustainability.

“We have IHS as a partner already… by partnering with us, this building is sustainable in terms of operation,” AbdulRazaq added, explaining that the hub will also be powered by solar energy to maintain consistent electricity.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progression, emphasising that the focus has been on ensuring the hub remains competitive in Africa’s tech sector. “It is taking time, but it is good to get it right. We are in the last mile; everything is almost ready. It is about 95% complete,” he said.
Temi Kolawole, managing director of the hub, shared the Governor’s optimism. He noted that the project would bring globally competitive skills to Kwara and connect the state’s talent pool to the global market, positioning the region as a technological leader in Africa.

Governor AbdulRazaq also took the opportunity to inspect two other major projects in Ilorin: the remodelling of Kwara Hotels and the reconstruction of the Government House access gate. These projects are part of the administration’s broader efforts to revamp the state’s infrastructure and drive economic growth.
The Ilorin Innovation Hub, once complete, is expected to play a critical role in fostering technological innovation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development within Kwara State and beyond.
