Imo agog as Uzodimma begins second tenure in office

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has officially begun his second term in office.

Speaking at his inauguration/swearing-in ceremony, held at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, yesterday, Uzodimma pledged to consolidate on his first term achievements, as well as continually advance the development and general well-being of Imo people and the state.

He said his second tenure would afford him another opportunity to renew his covenant with God, which is to serve God and Imo people.

He further said that during his first tenure, he was able to lay a strong foundation in all spheres of the state for further development.

Uzodimma added that he would use the next four years to advance the state to become the most industrious and self-sustaining state in the country.

He said: “I am very mindful that today would not have been possible without your support and votes on the November 11 governorship election. Indeed, I am most grateful.

“With this swearing-in today, I have entered into a social contract with Imo people. In the next 12 months of this tenure, every community in this state will feel further the impact of this government.

“My second tenure will witness massive infrastructure development, economic boom, and will also open a conducive environment for businesses and investment to thrive.”
Uzodimma said that he had itemised projects for development in the 2024 budget, promising to implement it religiously.

He said his vision, based on the development plan in Imo State, is unshakable, stressing that industrial building and reduction of employment, as well as more infrastructural development would be carried out.

In his felicitation message, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Uzodimma, describing him as being a hardworking and industrious governor.

The President also expressed satisfaction for the faith Nigerians have in his administration, urging for more understanding.

Tinubu inaugurated a 7.2-kilometre Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri dual carriage road, describing the project as well thought out.

Among dignitaries that graced the event included ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker, House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, among others.
