As part of its cost-saving measures, the Imo State Government, at the weekend, released a statement sacking workers from parastatals, agencies and departments in the state. The government accused affected workers of milking funds meant for payment of salaries, allowances and other entitlements without commensurate revenue outputs.
The Secretary to the Imo State Government of Imo State (SGI) Jude Ejiogu, who signed the statement, informed that the decision to sack the workers was based on the Productivity Audit conducted by the State Government, adding that the workers in the affected parastatals, agencies and departments, would be communicated soon.
While directing those in possession of government properties to return them within 48 hours, Ejiogu listed affected agencies to include the Hospital Management Board and Headquarters, Imo water Corporation, Imo Cattle Markets, Imo Sports Council, Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), Imo Marketing Company and others.
