Government Rochas Okorocha yesterday directed that government activities be suspended for six days (from Tuesday to Sunday) to enable the rescheduled Okigwe (Imo North), senatorial re-run hold on July 23.

The rerun is between the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Benjamin Uwajimogu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Nathan Achonu.

The Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, had last year, voided the election of Achonu, who had spent about six months in the Senate because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) omission of one of the parties’ logo.

The Governor has also said the minor cabinet reshuffle he directed on Monday, was not because of lack of performance on the part of any of the four commissioners concerned.

In a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor said the commissioners and the redesignated ministries were carried out to streamline the administrative efficiency of his administration.
