Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared next week Monday a public holiday in the state.

According to the governor, the move became imperative to enable residents to participate in his inauguration activities and that of his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

The inauguration of the governor commenced on Friday with a Jumat Service at the Akure Central Mosque, while a Church Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House, Oke-Ijebu, Akure, the state capital, on Sunday.

In a statement by Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the swearing-in ceremony of the governor and his deputy will take place at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, on Monday, after which there will be a gala night and book presentation at the International Centre for Culture & Events (The Dome), Akure.

Meanwhile, Aiyedatiwa has directed the cancellation of the restriction of movement on Saturday, during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

The governor maintained that while there will be no restriction on movement on Saturday, residents are still expected to clean their environment.
