INEC, EFCC set new framework for transparent 2027 elections

IMG-20260610-WA0025

The Independent National Electoral Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have agreed to establish a new framework aimed at strengthening transparency and credibility ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The development follows renewed commitments by both agencies to work closely in addressing electoral offences, vote-buying, campaign finance violations, and other forms of electoral malpractice that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

Under the proposed framework, INEC and the EFCC are expected to enhance information sharing, intelligence gathering, and coordinated enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with electoral laws and regulations.

The partnership underscores the determination of both institutions to promote free, fair, and credible elections while reinforcing public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process ahead of the 2027 polls.
