Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangements for supplementary House of Assembly elections in 15 polling units of four local councils in Niger State on April 15, 2023.

Disclosing this during a stakeholders’ meeting at INEC Headquarters in Tunga, yesterday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ahmed Garki, explained that the local councils affected included Agaie, Agwara, Rafi and Rijau.

Garki attributed the success recorded during the recent general elections in the state to the mutual understanding between the stakeholders across the political parties, and urged them to maintain the tempo.

He lauded security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for exhibiting professionalism during the elections.

His words: “I must appreciate the stakeholders in the state for their mutual understanding, support and commitment before, during and after the polls. Looking at where we are coming from, your cooperation made our job easier.”

“The peaceful conduct of the general elections in the state is a plus to us all. I, therefore, urge you all to maintain the synergy that have already been established.”

On their part, the stakeholders, particularly representatives of political parties, enjoined INEC to deploy experienced staff to where the supplementary elections will be conducted, for a hitch-free exercise.

The Niger State Police Command reiterated that the command would continue to support INEC at all times.
