The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Borno State, Ibrahim Mohammed Magaji, has said that of the 674,514 voters who were registered during the last registration exercise that ended last month, it withheld 23,000 due to security concerns.

The Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced in the state from April 2017 to August 31, 2018 with 183 unclaimed Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) at the commission’s headquarters.

Magaji disclosed this at the weekend, while briefing journalists on INEC’s preparedness to conduct free and fair general elections at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) press centre in Maiduguri.
