The Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, has stressed the need for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), especially the youths, to acquire skills for self-development.

Ibrahim made this known while hosting children of Kuchingoro IDPs camp at a New Year party in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ibrahim said: “I very much appreciate the fact that this camp is very important to the commission. That was why we took it upon ourselves to work with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to ensure that every stateless person below the age of 18 has a birth registration, hence an identity. It is important for you all to know that today is not a day for a long speech, but it is for us to merry and pray for a beautiful year ahead of us.”

She admonished the children to be of good behaviour by being their brother’s keepers.

The same party was replicated in Waru camp, a suburb of the FCT and Karu IDPs camp, in Nasarawa State.
