It’s South East VP slot or protest vote, Ohanaeze youths warn PDP
In a statement signed by its deputy national chairman, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, after a meeting in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, OYC insisted that the least position the zone would accept from the party is the vice president, stressing that “the South East cannot be deceived again.”
He maintained that the PDP chairman, Uche Secondus, had tactically avoided addressing the issue of denying South East the position of vice president because of the fear of the cabal that preferred the South West for the slot.
The statement read in part: “OYC insists that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Prince Uche Secondus is planning to deny Igbos the vice presidential slot when the party holds her presidential primaries early October 2018 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“OYC will mobilise Igbo youths to vote for PDP in governorship and senatorial elections in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu states come 2019, but if PDP denies Igbo the vice presidential slot, we will vote for another party in the presidential election.
“PDP should choose among the three serving governors in the South East or former Governor Peter Obi who is a better presidential material.”
Meanwhile, the Sustainable National Party (SNP) has accused the PDP of ignoring young and qualified presidential aspirants seeking to run on its platform.
