Software engineering consultant and technology innovator, Israel Iyonsi, has been named Tech Innovator of the Year at the 2024 Crest Awards, in recognition of his pioneering work in affiliate marketing technology and digital advertising.

The award honours Iyonsi’s contributions to transforming the AdTech ecosystem through the development of scalable, high-performance solutions that link millions of shoppers to exclusive offers from over 250 global brands. As a Software Engineering Consultant at Kindred, Iyonsi has helped build one of the most sophisticated affiliate marketing infrastructures in operation today.

Reflecting on his journey, Iyonsi said his passion for technology began over a decade ago. “My journey began in 2010 when I first explored HTML on my sister’s laptop,” he recalled. “That moment sparked a deep curiosity about technology and how it can be used to solve real problems. It was the start of a journey that continues today.”

At Kindred, Iyonsi’s role involves creating and optimising Azure-based functions that process affiliate transactions across more than twenty partner networks, including Admitad, Cuelinks, vCommission, Rakuten, and Dognet. These integrations enable users to access special deals and cashback offers, helping brands and consumers connect more effectively.

His innovations include new strategies for managing missing transactions and outdated data, alongside the development of APIs designed to handle large volumes of traffic without compromising system performance. He also wrote scripts to verify and reconcile transaction data, and upgraded older integrations to modern standards — improvements that significantly enhanced Kindred’s speed, accuracy, and reliability.

“I have always believed that technology should not just work, it should improve lives,” Iyonsi said. “For me, technology is about creating value for people and businesses. It’s not just about code — it’s about solving real-world problems that have meaningful impact.”

The Crest Award judges commended Iyonsi’s ingenuity and long-term vision for digital commerce. In their citation, they noted that “Israel’s work demonstrates how technical expertise, combined with creativity, can redefine an industry.”

Iyonsi described the honour as both gratifying and motivating. “This award motivates me to keep exploring ways to make technology better for everyone,” he said.

Looking ahead, he intends to deepen his work in artificial intelligence and cloud computing to enhance Kindred’s platform and expand its reach. “The technology landscape is changing fast, and I want to ensure we stay ahead,” he said. “With focus and dedication, anything is achievable.”

The Crest Award 2024 represents a milestone in Iyonsi’s career and underscores his growing influence in AdTech innovation.
