Ize-Iyamu alleges corruption in APC contracts

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that there is a high level of corruption in projects executed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP’s governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, made the allegation at Ogbona, hometown of the state’s party chairman, Dan Orbih.
Addressing party supporters, he said the APC-led government was founded on deceit.
He said: “In Edo State today, the cost of executing projects is not known. The level of corruption is unbelievable and I challenge Governor Adams Oshiomhole to publish the cost of every project he claims he has executed since he became governor.”
Ize-Iyamu mentioned the university, which Oshiomhole built in his village, where he also built a 168-room hostel for N1.8billion. At that cost, the inference is that a room in the hostel costs about N10 million.
He mentioned other projects where the contracts were inflated. “How can you build a three-classroom block for N87million?” he asked.
According to Ize-Iyamu, the renovation of Imaguero College was done for N800 million. Yet, all that was done in the old school was to merely change the roof, tiled the floor and painted the walls.
The candidate condemned the refusal of government to disclose the cost of reconstructing the Airport Road.
Ize-Iyamu added: “For Edo people to appreciate the gift you are giving them, you must tell them the cost. It is not enough to point at a road constructed. That information will be better appreciated if you tell them the cost.”
Ize-Iyamu added that the governor is very good in wealth consumption without considering how to create wealth.
He pledged to keep his covenant with Edo people under his SIMPLE Agenda, adding that as a pastor, he would honour God by keeping his promise.
Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives from Oredo Federal Constituency, Ogbeide Ihama, yesterday urged Edo women to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Ihama made the appeal at the presentation of grants of N10, 000 each to over 1,000 women in Oredo Local Council area.
Making the presentation on the platform of the Ogbeide Ihama Foundation, he said Ize-Iyamu would be more committed to the overall empowerment of women in the state.
He told the women that his empowerment programme was in fulfillment of the campaign promise he made to them for their love and support.
