Former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Prof Jerry Gana, has charged Nigerian youths on ideas that would offer lasting solutions to the nation’s myriad of challenges.
Speaking at the 11th African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) conference in Abuja, Gana urged youngsters to shun destructive acts and adopt cautious, creative analysis and thinking as future leaders.
He said: “Do not use your energy to destroy the country. Channel it into thinking and generating ideas that will propel Nigeria forward. There are challenges facing Nigeria, but the solution is not to be angry; it is not to blame anyone; the issue is to find relevant solutions to make the whole system of government work, and that’s the light we are talking about here.
“That’s why we are appealing to the youths not to spend their energy in criticism, abuse, or destruction. You need to critically think to find lasting solutions to the country’s leadership crisis.”
Gana identified “evil gatekeepers” as a significant obstacle to Nigeria’s progress, frustrating investors and hindering economic growth.
He urged the young people to challenge these gatekeepers and foster transparency and accountability.
The ex-minister called for a shift in leadership that aligns with Biblical principles, advocating service-oriented governance rather than leadership driven by personal gains.
Gana challenged African youth to rise to the occasion and spearhead a new leadership renaissance that would usher in a brighter future for the continent.
In his remarks, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Bible Society of Nigeria and organiser of Africa Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLY 2024), Samuel Sanusi explained that the conference was to enshrine biblical principles in leadership.
Also speaking, the National Chairman, Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria, Belusochukwu Enwere, stressed that the programme was vital to the life of all Nigerian Christians, especially the youth.
He asked youngsters to propagate the gospel of Christ.
