Jigawa gov orders appointees contesting elective posts to resign

Governor Muhammad Abubukar of Jigawa State has directed all political appointees aspiring for political offices in the forthcoming 2023 general elections to resign on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

Governor Muhammad Abubukar of Jigawa State has directed all political appointees aspiring for political offices in the forthcoming 2023 general elections to resign on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alh. Adamu Fanini.

He said the decision was in compliance with Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act 2022 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, which demands political appointees aspiring to contest elections to resign their positions before the conduct of party primaries.
