Former President Goodluck Jonathan has cautioned Nigerians against engaging with a fraudulent Instagram account impersonating him online.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan distanced himself from the account and clarified that he does not operate any Instagram profile.
According to the statement, the fake account has been posting content while falsely presenting itself as an official platform belonging to the former president.
Some of the posts were reportedly copied from Jonathan’s verified Facebook page to appear authentic.
Jonathan urged members of the public and the media to ignore any information, messages, or posts originating from the impersonating account, stressing that it does not represent him in any capacity.
He also advised Nigerians to avoid sharing or promoting content from the account, warning that fraudsters could use such platforms to mislead unsuspecting individuals.
The former president reiterated that his verified communication channels remain his official social media platforms and urged the public to remain vigilant against online impersonation and misinformation.
