Kaduna Airport ready, says official
Kaduna International Airport has been rebranded with modern equipment in line with international best standard, Capt. Mohammed Joji, Chairman, Coordinating Committee on Abuja relocation, has said.
Joji, who is also the Secretary General, Aircraft Operators in Nigeria, made the remark on Friday after inspecting facilities at the airport.
“All the equipment were tested and are doing fine. As far as I am concerned, I am comfortable with this one, we are happy about it,” Joji told newsmen in Kaduna.
He listed some of the items installed at the airport to include lighting system, distance measuring equipment, solar power, and other vital facilities.
Alkali Usman, an Assistant Inspector General of Police, said adequate measures had been taken to ensure security at the airport and on Kaduna-
Abuja road once flight operations were diverted from Abuja to Kaduna.
“Our level level of deployment on the road has been assessed and we have earmarked where we will cover in terms of patrol.
“We have also made arrangement to protect the airport and equipment, building and everywhere.
“We have also ensured that all hotels and places of interest are protected and guarded, and we are going to increase patrol visibility,” Alkali said.
On her part, the Kaduna Airport Manager, Amina Salami, said so far, the airport is 95 per cent ready for traffic from Abuja.

Kaduna Air port is a disgrace to the 7th largest oil producers on the planet !!!!!! It looks like a rented house !!!!!!!!!!
I understand the contract for the facelift of this airport was allocated to a crony to one of the top shots in government a couple of years ago, who helped himself to huge amounts set aside for the project by “sharing” it “as planned” instead. I also understand that the top shot hails from Kaduna State. That handsome sum of N1.1 billion being used currently to restructure the Kaduna Airport should have been used to procure medicines for some of our derelict hospitals, were the “contractor” who was fronting for this top shot to have judiciously spent the money on the Kaduna Airport work as originally planned. It was a bright, but, alas, dishonest plan. The business of governance must be very lucrative indeed, now I know why they are fighting bare-knuckled to “return” to power. Talking about power…
As to the issue of providing security at the airport and its environ, I want to trust the Nigeria Police that they will go about it discreetly. It is possible. People worldwide are becoming jittery at the sight of guns in public places, some could actually faint at being shown the muzzle of one. Do not be overzealous, you could scare the daylight out of many; peel your eyes, be proactive; master your terrain, master your CCTV circuitry and hope for the best…
We will review and take appropriate action.
