Kaduna government cannot stampede Senate to approve $350m foreign loan — Sani
The Chairman of Senate Committee on domestic and foreign loans, Senator Shehu Sani, has said Kaduna State government cannot stampede Senate to approve $350m foreign loan, without meeting necessary conditions.
Sani, who condemned various protests and lobbies that followed agitation against Senate committee on domestic debts and foreign loan, said at the weekend, that approval of such loan request will not be granted to state governments wanting to mortgage the future of their citizens and states.
He said: “Under the debt management act, 2007, there are numbers of factors that should be considered before a state can take a loan. Kaduna, like other state governments applied for foreign loans, which is the prerogative of Federal Government and Federal Ministry of finance and Federal Ministry of Justice.”
