Kaduna: Security operatives kill bandit, recover Ak47 rifle, 135 cows

Police in Kaduna have killed a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and 135 cows from cattle rustlers, while six other suspects arrested are currently undergoing investigation.

Police in Kaduna have killed a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and 135 cows from cattle rustlers, while six other suspects arrested are currently undergoing investigation.

The operatives said they swoop on them while acting on the information that certainly suspected cattle rustlers were seen entering the Unguwan Haske village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where they made suspicious purchases of airtime as well as consumables.

According to the Police spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, the information received by the Police prompted the Command to immediately activate intelligence and deployed the operatives alongside local volunteers to the location.

He noted that the rustlers on sighting the operatives, opened fire on them and the operatives responded with commensurate fire that resulted in death of one, while six others were successfully apprehended.

He said, “An AK47 rifle loaded with one round of live 7.62 X 39mm ammunition, 130 heads of cows, as well as eighty (80) sheep, were recovered.

“The operation was a success as there was no casualty on the side of the friendly forces.

The suspects are presently undergoing investigation and would be charged to court on completion while concerted efforts are being intensified to locate and identify the rightful owners of the rustled cattle.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command, Yekini Ayoku, commended the gallantry and precision exhibited by the officers and tasked them to keep the flag flying in the area of crime-fighting and prevention.

He also appreciated the community efforts in providing timely and potent information, a tool required in nipping crimes in the bud.
