We have resolved our minor disagreement, APC replies NNPP

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, has described the recent altercation that broke out between the leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and the governorship running mate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Murtala Sule Garo, as a national embarrassment.

Besides, the opposition party cautioned Kano residents to be mindful of the characters and credibility of politicians seeking their votes in next year’s general elections.

Statement issued by the state chairman of the party, Umar Haruna Doguwa, declared that it would be another disgrace for the residents of Kano to support candidates who engage in street brawls thereby asking for total rejection of the APC in the 2023 poll.

NNPP thereby called on security agencies to quickly wade into the root of the crises in APC with a view to maintaining relative peace enjoyed in Kano.

Umar, who faulted the ruling party worried that “despite the inability of APC to secure the lives and property of citizens, the actions and inactions of its leaders in creating and promoting violence within and with other opposition parties, could be a clear testimony of its failure.

“Doguwa is on a rampage and from experience, Murtala Garo must revenge, so the political atmosphere is already overheated. The duo has also taken to the media to deflect blame between each other for their unfortunate show of shame.

“We learned from the inception of the internal crises. Supporters of the two warring camps have gone on a rampage, destroying each other’s billboards and removing posters that do not belong to their bosses. If this behavior is not promptly controlled, it may result in big-time political violence capable of causing deaths and loss of property.”

Refuting claims of the NNPP, APC insisted that the Kwankwasiyya-led opposition is simply seeking relevance from the minor disagreement that broke out in the ruling party.

A release signed by Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said, “while the disagreement had been amicably resolved by party elders, the Kwankwasiyya, which is intimidated by the strength of the APC in the state, is engaging in propaganda to overblow the situation out of proportion.”

Garba, who doubles as spokesperson for Gawuna/Garo APC gubernatorial candidates, alleged that credible information at his disposal revealed that a group of thugs engaged by NNPP to destroy APC campaign posters, using the recent account as a smokescreen.

He said: “In the last few days, Kwankwasiyya has been sharing pictures, giving negative meanings all in a futile attempt to discredit the ruling party in the state. While the party is entitled to its share of intra-party discord which is common in all parties, such should not be allowed to be used by the opposition to further foment trouble for the party.”

He said as the nation heads toward election year, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, want members of the party to remain steadfast and maintain its unity to continue on the path of apparent victory and dominance at all levels.
