The Katsina State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of a new Commissioner of Police (CP), Ali Umar Fage, as the 27th police chief in the state.
A statement by the command said Fage resumed office on Monday and was deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Rilwanu Disu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security across commands nationwide.
The statement, signed by DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the new CP is aative of Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, the new CP was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on June 10, 1994.
It added that Fage holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano.
It further said with over three decades of policing experience, Fage has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, and Lagos States.
His career profile includes postings as a Divisional Police Officer in several divisions, Officer Commanding strategic units, and senior roles such as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration.
The statement said Fage also served as Deputy Commandant at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, before his latest deployment.
He has attended several professional courses, including the Advanced Detective Course and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.
The new CP, according to a statement, pledged to maintain peace and security in the state, while emphasising collaboration with stakeholders and the adoption of proactive strategies to tackle crime.
