Katsina to convert Daura Health Centre to General Hospital
The Katsina State Government is set to convert the Daura Comprehensive Health Centre, Daura Local Government Area, to a full-fledged General Hospital.
Governor Dikko Radda, who made this known, said the conversion became necessary because the current Daura General Hospital had been converted into a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
Radda was speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting on the 2025 citizens’ budget participation and the launch of a community development programme in the area.
The governor said in addition to the hospital, the government is considering ways to revive the moribund industries in Daura zone, especially in the area of processing hides and skins.
He said part of the efforts at reviving moribund industries in the area is to involve private bodies through Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
He said the aim of the revival of industries in the area is to create job opportunities for teeming youths and ensure economic recovery for Daura and councils in the Katsina North Senatorial zone.
The governor also said his administration would act swiftly to tackle the ecological problem that led to the submergence of about 300 farmlands by flooding at Rogogo community, in the neighbouring Sandamu council area.
He, therefore, directed the Commissioner of Agriculture to make findings on the matter with a view to commencing work to address the problem.
