Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouk, has kicked off the Federal Government Cash Grant for Rural Women with 5,200 beneficiaries in Kebbi State.
Speaking shortly after presenting the money to the beneficiaries at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi, Farouk said the gesture was part of the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s effort in lifting 100 million Nigerians from poverty.
According to the minister, about five councils have started benefitting from the grant in Kebbi State, adding that N20,000 will be given to each beneficiary.
MEANWHILE, beneficiaries of the Extended Special Public Work Programme across the country have been charged to reciprocate the government’s gesture by diligently executing their assigned tasks throughout their stint in the programme.
The Acting Director-General of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Abubakar Fikpo, who made the call yesterday while kicking off the programme in Jalingo, Taraba State, assured Nigerians of the directorate’s determination to the success of the programme.
