Disagreeing with the position taken by the Kano State Government for indicting the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), over the fire outbreak that razed many parts of Sabon Gari market, last year, KEDCO has dismissed the indictment as lacking in substance.

The indictment came as part of the findings of the state panel of Inquiry, which investigated the remote and immediate causes of the fire outbreak.

In a release signed by the company’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Kandi, KEDCO said: “There was no way KEDCO could have been charged with such an atrocious fire incidence having proven with concrete evidence to the Panel of Inquiry that, the feeder supplying the market was not energized throughout the period the market was in flames.”
