Kefas urges fairness, unity at APC Taraba congress

A strong call for justice, inclusiveness, and party cohesion echoed through the Jolly Nyame Stadium on Tuesday as governor Agbu Kefas addressed delegates and party faithful at the Taraba State Congress All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking before an energized crowd, the governor charged the newly elected state executive members to uphold fairness and equal treatment in managing the party’s affairs. He emphasized that unity and collective responsibility remain critical to repositioning the APC for greater success in the state.

“Justice and inclusiveness must be the foundation of your leadership,” Kefas told the gathering. “When every member feels valued and heard, the party grows stronger.”

Consensus Through Voice Vote
The congress, described by observers as peaceful and hitch-free, culminated in the emergence of new executive officials through a voice vote system. The process followed a consensus agreement reached by 840 delegates drawn from the state’s 168 wards.

Officials of the State Congress Committee, who supervised the exercise, affirmed that the voice vote procedure was consistent with the party’s constitution.

The orderly conduct of the congress was widely interpreted as a positive signal of internal harmony within the party’s structure in Taraba.

Focus on 2027 General Elections
Looking ahead, Governor Kefas urged the new leadership to intensify grassroots mobilization and strategic engagement to position the APC for victory in the 2027 general elections.

He stressed that internal stability would directly influence electoral strength, adding that “no stone must be left unturned” in efforts to expand the party’s reach and consolidate its base across the state.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected state chairman, Abubakar Bawa, assured members of a transparent and inclusive administration.

Bawa pledged to operate an open-door policy, promising that the executive would work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels to deepen unity and advance the party’s objectives.
