•As Police Deny Knowledge Of Abduction, Release
Four days after the alleged abduction of Eze Charles Iroegbu, monarch of Umuezie autonomous community, Aboh Mbaise Local Council, an official of his company and seven of his cabinet chiefs, it was gathered that their captors have freed the abductees.

The release of the affected persons was aired on a private radio station based in Owerri, about 8 a.m yesterday. It was gathered that they were kidnapped on their way home from a wedding ceremony in Mbano.

Ironically, the state Police Command claimed it has no knowledge of the abduction and release, maintaining that the matter was not officially reported to any police division/station in the 27 Local Councils. The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Orlando Ikeokwu said: “We do not know anything about that. When I heard that, I tried to find out from Mbano, where they said it happened and all the other stations in the state said it was not reported.”
